Ereignisse. Zeitwahrnehmung und Ich-Dissoziation in Thomas Bernhards früher Prosa

Ausgehend von einer Analyse der temporalen Strukturen in Thomas Bernhards frühen Erzählungen, insbesondere von der Bedeutung des Plötzlichkeitsmotivs, wird versucht, die monomanische Rhetorik der Texte sowohl als Ausdruck des hybriden Absolutheitsanspruchs der Bernhard'schen ‚Geistesmenschen' wie als Reflexion fortschreitenden Ich-Zerfalls zu verstehen. Fokussiert werden die Figurationen der Ich-Spaltung und des Doppelgängertums im Frühwerk sowie die Affinität zu Erzählmustern der Detektivgeschichte.

Taking an analysis of the temporal structure in Thomas Bernhard's early stories, in particular the motif of suddenness, as its starting point, this article attempts to interpret the texts' monomaniacal rhetoric both as an expression of the hybrid absolute claim of Bernhard's 'thinking man' and as a reflection of a progressive disintegration of the ego. The analysis focuses on the images of the rifts in the ego and of the notion of the doppelgänger in the author's early work and the affinity this work shows to narrative patterns of the detective story.
