Konnotationen von Freundschaft und Liebe in Schillers „Philosophischen Briefen“ und Hölderlins „Hyperion“

Der Zusammenhang von Liebe und Freundschaft war im 18. Jahrhundert, wie zahlreiche Beispiele in philosophischen und literarischen Texten illustrieren, verbreitet. In der Aufklärung weitet sich für eine bestimmte Zeit Freundschaft zum Substrat einer Lebensform aus, bis in der Kunstperiode die bekannte Differenzierung des Liebesdiskurses den Code für Intimität bestimmt (Niklas Luhmann). Paradigmatisch läßt sich die Entwicklung von Liebe zur „Höchstrelevanz“ an Schillers „Philosophischen Briefen“ und Hölderlins Roman „Hyperion“ nachweisen.

In the 18th century the connection between love and friendship was widespread, as is shown by numerous philosophical and literary texts. During the Enlightenment, the concept of friendship became part of the value system of society, until in the periods from the Storm and Stress to Romanticism the discourse of love became the essential code for intimacy (Niklas Luhmann). Schiller’s „Philosophical Letters“ and Hölderlin’s novel „Hyperion“ are paradigms for this development.
