Synchronizität und Simultanität in Rudolf Brunngrabers Epochenroman „Karl und das zwanzigste Jahrhundert“ (1932)

Dieser Beitrag weist auf einen für die Interpretation von Rudolf Brunngrabers Roman „Karl und das zwanzigste Jahrhundert“ zentralen, von der bisherigen Forschung allerdings vernachlässigten Aspekt hin: Die Organisation der Erzählung durch die Konstruktion synchroner und simultaner Zeitordnungen. Es wird aufgezeigt, dass diese Konstruktionen durch eine von Brunngraber dafür entwickelte spezielle, womöglich gar singuläre Montagetechnik umgesetzt werden.

This article points to an aspect which is central to the interpretation of Rudolf Brunngraber’s novel “Karl und das zwanzigste Jahrhundert” (‘Karl and the Twentieth Century’) but which has been neglected by previous research: the organisation of the narrative through the construction of synchronous and simultaneous time structures. It is shown that these constructions are implemented using a special, possibly even unique, montage technique developed by Brunngraber for this purpose.
