Zur Poetik von W.G. Sebald und Günter Grass

W. G. Sebalds Prosabuch "Austerlitz" und die Novelle "Im Krebsgang" von Günter Grass entwerfen Modelle der Erinnerung, die sich gleichermaßen mit dem Problem des Unsagbaren in der Literatur und seinen poetologischen Implikationen auseinandersetzen. Der Aufsatz analysiert diese Poetik des Unsagbaren im Spannungsfeld der Erwartung von Authentizität einerseits und der Unmöglichkeit ihrer Kommunizierbarkeit andererseits.

W. G. Sebald's text "Austerlitz" and Günter Grass's novella "Im Krebsgang" create models of memory which are concerned both with the problem of the inexpressible in literature and its poetological implications. This article analyses the poetics of the inexpressible with respect to the tension between the demand for authenticity on the one hand and the impossibility of communicating it on the other.
