Übersicht bestehender Kapazitäten und zukünftiger Bedarf an Klärschlammverbrennungsanlagen

Weniger die Vorgaben der AbfKlärV als das novellierte Düngerecht haben Impulse zum Rückgang der bodenbezogenen Klärschlammverwertung und zur verstärkten thermischen Klärschlamm-Behandlung gegeben.
Momentan werden jährlich knapp 500.000 t TM in Klärschlamm-Verbrennungsanlagen thermisch behandelt, in Mitverbrennungsanlagen werden aktuell etwa 580.000 t TM mitverbrannt (Tendenz sinkend infolge Art 5 AbfKlärV und Kohleausstieg).
Zur Deckung des aktuellen und künftigen Kapazitätsbedarfs sind Neubau-, Erweiterungs- und Ersatzplanungen von Klärschlamm-Verbrennungsanlagen in fast allen Bundesländern zu erkennen.
Würden die aktuell bekannten Anlagenplanungen mit einer mittleren bis großen Wahrscheinlichkeit umgesetzt, stünde eine zusätzliche thermische Klärschlamm-Behandlungskapazität von über 800.000 t TM zur Verfügung.

Compared to the amended Fertilizer Ordinance, the requirements of Sewage Sludge Ordinance (AbfKlärV) have offered less incentives to decline the utilization of sewage sludge for agricultural soil and to increase the thermal treatment for sewage sludge.
Around 500,000 tons of sewage sludge (dry weight) per year are currently treated in sewage sludge incineration plants, while approximately 580,000 tons of sewage sludge (dry weight) in co-incineration plants (with declining tendency due to Article 5 of the AbfKlärV and the phase-out of fossil fuel).
There is a noticeable increase in the planning of new sewage sludge incineration plants as well as extension or replacement of existing plants in nearly all federal states in order to meet the current and the future capacity requirements. If the current publicized facility planning were implemented, there would be an additional capacity of more than 800,000 tons (dry matter) per year available for the thermal treatment of sewage sludge.
