Power-to-Heat-Contracting bietet industriellen Wärmeverbrauchern Zusatzerlöse

Power-to-Heat-Anlagen wandeln Überschussstrom in Heißwasser oder Dampf um. Sie bilden das Bindeglied zwischen Strom- und Wärmemarkt und stehen, indem sie Schwankungen ausgleichen, als Flexibilisierungsoption für die Netzsicherheit und somit als Werkzeug der Energiewende zur Verfügung. Wirtschaftlich lassen sich die Anlagen im Moment nur im Regelleistungsmarkt betreiben. Mittelfristig ist jedoch abzusehen, dass durch den steigenden Anteil an fluktuierenden Erzeugern mehr nutzbare Überschüsse entstehen. Einsatzgebiet ist vor allem die Großindustrie mit eigenem Dampfnetz und kommunale Wärmeversorger. Die Anlagengröße beträgt zwischen 5 und 20 MW elektrischer Leistung. Im Artikel werden die Vorteile für industrielle Wärmeverbraucher anhand des Referenzprojektes ‚Müllverbrennungsanlage Premnitz‘ dargestellt.

Power-to-Heat plants transform excess electricity into hot water or steam. They connect the electricity and heat markets to form a hybrid grid and are a flexible option to guarantee operation of the grid as they can compensate for fluctuations, thus facilitating the shift to renewable energy. From an economical point of view, the plants can currently only operate in the balancing power market. However, an increase in the producers of fluctuating energy could results in more useable excesses in the medium term. The field of application for this technology is primarily large scale industry with its own steam network and local district heat suppliers. The power capacity of the plants ranges from 5 to 20 MW. The benefits for industrial consumers of heat are presented in the article with reference to the “Premnitz waste incineration plant” project.
